Additional Information
Join the Alabama Chapter of NAPNAP in Part 2 of our summer mini series as Dr. Katherine Thaggard, neurologist at Children's of Alabama, shares her expertise of assessment, diagnosis and treatment of inattention and staring spells. Her objectives:
a. Recognize the nuanced presentations of inattention and staring spells, elucidating the differential diagnosis and overlapping features with epilepsy.
b. Understand the range of evidence-based tools and interventions for evaluating inattention and staring spells and how to incorporate these tools in pediatric care setting to foster accurate diagnosis (eg. for ADHD) or optimal referrals (eg. for Epilepsy).
c. Identify and address challenges - such as resource limitations and time constraints - inherent in diagnosing inattention and staring spells within the healthcare setting, and outlining effective first-line treatments linked to improved patient outcomes.
Following her presentation, we will have a brief demonstration of the ESZY HyperventilationRecorder that is the FDA Registered, gamified solution for objective in-office screening for absence seizures. This device is being used across the country to assist pediatricians in both primary care offices and specialty clinic in accurately differentiating ADHD and Childhood Absence Epilepsy (CAE).
This offering will be ZOOM only on July 17th.
****This will be recorded and available On-Demand at a later date****
